The Chinese ministry said it will take swift action to curb aggressive low-price competition that threatens to destabilize businesses and hinder the industry’s sustainable growth. November 28, 2025 Marija Maisch The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Image: 維基小霸王, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0 By ESS news At its meeting on November 28, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) pledged to accelerate the implementation of targeted policies and measures to curb “irrational competition” in the energy and battery storage industries. Oversupply and aggressive bidding have eroded margins in China’s energy storage market, threatening the viability of…
Italian research agency Enea has created a web tool that assesses the feasibility of replacing residential gas boilers with heat pumps by estimating the potential energy and economic savings. The app also provides information on the technical specifications of the photovoltaic system required to meet the electricity demand of the heat pump. November 28, 2025 Emiliano Bellini The Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) this week presented a new online app that helps homeowners verify the technical and economic feasibility of replacing gas boilers with electric heat pumps without changing the hydraulic circuit or…
Westmorland & Furness Council’s Strategic Planning Committee has approved plans to develop what will be Britain’s largest floating solar PV (FPV) project at the Port of Barrow in Cumbria.Port operator Associated British Ports (ABP) will build a 40 MW FPV project at the port’s Cavendish Dock, called the Barrow EnergyDock project. The modules will be mounted on a fixed tilt arrangement and will cover approximately one third of the dock’s water surface. ABP noted that the addition of the FPV project would not hinder “current leisure activities” at the wharf, and would “create potential for future leisure uses in the…
China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) says developers installed 252.87 GW of new PV capacity from January to October 2024, including 12.6 GW in October alone. November 28, 2025 Vincent Shaw Chinas National Energy Administration (NEA) has released electricity sector data for the first ten months of 2025. The country’s total installed electricity generation capacity stood at 3.75 TW, an increase of 17.3% year-on-year. Solar energy capacity increased to 1.14 TW, an increase of 43.8%, while wind energy capacity grew by 21.4% to 590 GW. From January to October, China added 252.87 GW of new solar capacity (up 39%) and 70.01…
The new product is mainly offered as a 10 MW unit, but is also available in a 5.5 MW version for customers with specific requirements. November 28, 2025 Marija Maisch By ESS news Trina Storage has launched Elementa Electra, an AC-coupled modular battery energy storage system designed for large-scale renewable storage applications. The solution integrates the battery system with an AC side unit that combines power conversion and medium voltage boost functions, enabling efficient power conversion, coordinated operation between the DC and AC subsystems and a simplified grid connection process. By combining internal battery technology with purpose-built power conversion hardware,…
EWE says construction has begun on its 320 MW hydrogen plant in Germany as it seeks regulatory reforms, while Japan’s Suiso Energy and Kawasaki Heavy Industries have broken ground on a commercial-scale liquid hydrogen terminal set to become operational in 2030. November 28, 2025 Sergio Matalucci EWE has officially started construction of the 320 MW hydrogen production plant in Emden, East Friesland, with the award of the contract for civil engineering and structural works to a consortium of three construction companies (Ludwig Freytag, Gebrüder Neumann and MBN). “The plant will be one of the first electrolysers in Germany on a…
South Korean solar inverter manufacturers have jointly established a new inverter manufacturers association to coordinate domestic production, ensure local expertise and address import-driven market and grid stability issues. November 28, 2025 Brian Publicover Seven South Korean inverter makers have formed a new industry group to coordinate domestic production and tackle rising cybersecurity risks associated with foreign-made equipment that now dominates the market. The group – OCI Power, Dass Tech, Ecos, Dongyang E&P, DIK, Geumbi Electronics and Inno Electric – held its opening meeting on November 18 at the Cheongju Osong Convention Center in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. The council said…
International solar energy (SEI) has collaborated with Next power (formerly Nextracker) to expand SEI’s Empowerment Program scholarships, which broaden access to solar energy education and career paths for students of all backgrounds. SEI’s goal is to train the global solar workforce and provide access to renewable energy education. Nextpower’s investment will help SEI remove financial, geographic and personal barriers that could prevent aspiring solar professionals from entering or advancing in the field. “We are proud to continue our partnership with SEI because building the energy infrastructure of the future starts with investing in the people who power it,” said Kristan…
Enowatt says its modular, demountable photovoltaic structures allow companies to deploy solar energy capacity at existing sites without major building reinforcement, using ballast units installed directly on asphalt. November 28, 2025 Marie Beijer Enowatt has developed removable ‘solar tables’ and shade structures that can be installed directly on asphalt, giving businesses a turnkey way to use solar energy without major construction work. Yannick Simon, head of the metal skeleton company, was regularly asked to work on projects with existing buildings. His customers, mostly small and medium-sized enterprises, often showed interest in installing solar panels. “But after a €3,000 structural study,…
TCL SunPower Global has entered into a strategic partnership with Failte Solar, Ireland’s largest distributor of solar equipment, to strengthen its presence in two of Europe’s most dynamic renewable energy markets. The partnership will see Failte Solar become the exclusive distributor of TCL Solar and SunPower modules in Ireland and join the list of TCL Solar module distributors in the UK.This collaboration comes at a crucial time for both markets. Ireland’s solar PV sector has experienced rapid growth, exceeding 2 GW of installed capacity in 2025, a significant milestone compared to the cumulative capacity of 1.76 GW as of May…
