By Martin McConnell May 5, 2026 Investor in renewable energy Skyview Companies and his solar energy company Davis Hill Development has its collaboration with HiveTracks to integrate apiaries and environmental monitoring into its solar energy portfolio. The company’s current solar offerings span multiple states, including Maryland, Connecticut and New York, plus Washington, DC. By leveraging HiveTracks’ biodiversity intelligence platform, the company can scale data-driven environmental monitoring and managed pollinator programs for various solar projects, integrating pollinator habitats into existing solar projects. “This partnership reflects our broader vision that sustainable energy projects should be developed with long-term environmental stewardship in mind,”…
Shoals Technologies Group new 638,000 feet2 production facility in Portland, Tennessee, officially marked its grand opening this week. The site will manufacture Shoals’ line of electronic balance of system (eBOS) products for the solar, storage and mission-critical facility industries. “As demand for energy infrastructure continues to increase, this new mega-facility will enable Shoals to scale with our customers and meet the needs of a rapidly evolving energy landscape,” said Brandon Moss, CEO of Shoals. “By expanding our domestic manufacturing footprint and increasing capacity, we are strengthening America’s energy supply chain and enabling faster, more efficient energy deployment.” The new manufacturing…
After commissioning an analysis that found 40GW of floating solar could be delivered in Britain by 2050, Bluefield Solar has launched a new business unit focused on the technology. The owner-operator of utility-scale solar launched the floating solar PV (FPV) business through its development arm and said it will now advance a pipeline of utility-scale FPV projects across the UK.Bluefield commissioned analysis from independent consultancy CBI Economics which found that FPV is a “key growth area” for renewables in the UK. The company already owns and operates an FPV facility at the Queen Elizabeth II Reservoir, the largest floating solar power…
A SolarPower Europe scenario analysis, modeled by Rystad Energy, shows that accelerating the deployment of solar power and battery storage could save the European Union €223 billion ($260.7 billion) in gas imports between 2026 and 2030 and reduce wholesale electricity prices by 14% compared to 2025 levels. May 5, 2026 Brian Publicover The European Union is on track to miss both its 2030 solar and wind energy targets under current circumstances. Under the modeled base case, solar power is modeled at 574 GW against a target of 600 GW, while wind power is modeled at 344 GW against a target…
The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets is making progress with plans to introduce a grid fee that will allow large-scale electricity producers, including solar power plants, to contribute to the costs of the electricity grid. Its introduction is not expected until January 2032. May 5, 2026 Patrick Jowett The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) plans to introduce a grid fee for large electricity producers. The tariff, which is expected to come into effect from January 2032 at the earliest, will require major electricity producers, including solar power plants, to contribute to the costs of the electricity grid.…
By Martin McConnell April 21, 2026 A Report May 2024 Through Allied market research predicted that the carport market, then worth around $813 million, would more than double to a total of $1.7 billion by 2032. A more recent report says the outlook is even brighter, with market research firm Research Intelo predicting the solar fast charging market could reach $8.5 billion by 2033. Gary Eberhart says there’s plenty of reason for that excitement. “There is a lot of work going on in this sector, especially when you look at the existing infrastructure and buildings,” said Eberhart, VP of energy…
A German research team has developed a non-destructive on-site method to quantify water ingress into photovoltaic modules using near-infrared absorption (NIRA) spectroscopy calibrated with Karl-Fischer titration (KFT). The approach enables accurate measurement of absolute moisture content in sealed modules without disassembly, improving inspection, failure analysis and service life prediction. May 5, 2026 Lior Kahana A German research group has developed a new, non-destructive method to quantify water penetration into solar panels on site. The technique uses near-infrared absorption spectroscopy (NIRA), calibrated based on absolute water content measured via Karl-Fischer titration (KFT), allowing inspectors to determine the moisture level in modules…
Researchers in Austria found that the fluorine and fluoropolymer content in PV backsheets has decreased significantly over the past thirty years, due to a shift from fluorine-rich multilayer structures to fluorine-free or coated alternatives. Despite this decline, fluoropolymer backsheets remain important for end-of-life management due to environmental conservation concerns. May 5, 2026 Emiliano Bellini Researchers from the Austrian Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology have evaluated how the fluorine (F) content has evolved in the backplates of PV modules over the past thirty years and found that both the relative and absolute fluoropolymer content in recently installed PV systems have…
By Martin McConnell April 21, 2026 Independent energy producer Lydian energy has announced the acquisition of the solar and BESS portfolio of Irvine, California-based Atlas North Hanwha renewable energy sources. With a share of approximately 1.5 GW between solar and battery energy, the portfolio is one of the largest solar and storage portfolios in North America. The portfolio itself consists of four late-stage projects, including a 500 kV transmission line with a length of up to three kilometers. “Atlas North represents Lydian’s largest investment to date. We are excited to build on our momentum as a company and bring this…
