Bechtel has been selected by Doral renewable energy sources to design and construct the Cold Creek Solar + Storage project in Schleicher and Tom Green counties, Texas. The two companies are also working together on the final phases of the 1.3 GW Mammoth Solar project in Indiana.

The Cold Creek project will generate 430 MW of solar energy and have a 340 MWh energy storage system.

“The Cold Creek project is an important milestone in the growth of our company,” said Jason Van Deusen, VP Project Management at Doral Renewables. “We are excited to expand our partnership with Bechtel. The strong relationship built between the two organizations through collaboration, transparency and shared values in community engagement, local employee participation, safety, quality and environmental stewardship has paved the way for continued success.”

Bechtel will provide EPC services for the solar and storage facilities in the two counties, which will feed power into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid. At the peak of construction, the Cold Creek project is expected to create more than 500 jobs, provide training opportunities and stimulate economic activity that will benefit the regional economy and surrounding communities. Engineering is already underway and commercial operations are expected to begin in 2028.
