IPP Cero Generation has acquired a 100MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Gloucestershire, England, from Longspur Capital and RE Projects Development Limited (REPD).

Cero, part of global infrastructure investor Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG), will now work with its UK development partner Enso Energy to bring the project into construction and operation, although no target commercial operation date (COD) has been provided.

The announcement was made today (October 27) via business networking site LinkedIn.

Declan Deasy, CEO of Cero Generation, said: “This acquisition demonstrates our continued investment in the UK’s sustainable infrastructure, delivering further benefits for the UK energy system, communities and the environment.”

Macquarie launched Cero Generation in 2021 as an owner-operator of solar and storage, initially focused on the UK but also with wider European ambitions.

Macquarie also has two other UK companies active in the UK clean energy project space: developer Island Green Power, acquired outright in May 2025and global BESS owner-operator Eku Energy, whose portfolio includes UK two BESSs totaling 130 MWh were commissioned in August.

In July, Cero Generation £200 million secured from a consortium of lenders including ING, NordLB, Rabobank and Santander UK to build out its 360MW UK solar and storage portfolio.
