Chemitek Solar has launched its new Metal Oxides Removal Agent, a cleaning product designed to efficiently and safely remove metal oxides (e.g. rust) from solar panels and tiles. The Metal Oxides Removal Agent features a specialized biodegradable formula that reacts with metal oxide particles, ensuring their removal without causing damage to the panels. This innovative solution eliminates the need for sanding methods and provides an environmentally friendly and effective alternative.

Laboratory and field tests have confirmed the effectiveness of the product and show that it does not damage the anti-reflective coating, silicone or aluminum frame of solar panels. The metal oxide removal agent has been developed to meet the need for effective cleaning solutions in PV installations near industries such as foundries, steel mills and metal ore mines. As a proactive measure, Chemitek recommends applying the antistatic coating found in the Solar Wash Protect and Antistatic Solar Armor products after cleaning. This extra step slows down the build-up and adhesion of the contaminants, which maintains the optimal condition of solar panels for longer and makes the next cleaning easier and faster.

The metal oxide removal agent has been certified by TÜV Sud as safe for PV modules, proving that it is compatible with the highest industry standards. At the request of Chemitek, the CVR (Centre for Waste Valorization) laboratory conducted a study to evaluate the biodegradability of the metal oxide removal agent according to the OECD Guideline for Testing Chemicals – 301 F Manometric Respirometry Test. Using activated sludge from a local wastewater treatment plant, the study found the metal oxide removal agent to be readily biodegradable, with testing confirming it meets industry standards.
