China has identified two new Quartz deposits with a lot of purity, because it wants to locate the delivery for solar and semiconductor production and reduces dependence on American import

The Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources has announced the discovery of two large quarter positos with high purity-one near Qinling, the province of Henan and the other in the Altay region, Xinjiang. With the approval of the State Council, it has officially designated a high pure quartz as the 174th new classified mineral in the country.

Under the current technological and economic parameters, high -purified quartz refers to rock that yields quartz sand with a silicon dioxide (SIO₂) content of at least 99.995% after benefit and purification. The material must also meet strict impurity, inclusion and granularity thresholds for use in semiconductors, photovoltaic and optics. The primary output is a high pure quartz sand.

A senior civil servant of the ministry said that high-purely quartz offers important properties-such as resistance with high temperature, corrosion resistance, low thermal expansion, electrical insulation and light shipping that crucial making strategic sectors such as semiconductors and photovoltaic. Securing the material depends on access to a suitable rauwerts.

The official added that Chinese research institutions and companies have made considerable progress in the development of technologies for rapid screening, advanced purification and targeted removal of impurity. These developments have cleared the way for industrial use of the domestic quarter of a quartz and have helped to build an emerging supply chain.

The deposits in Henan and Xinjiang exceed 35 million tons in reserves. Chinese companies and research teams have produced pilot scale production of 4N5 purity (99.995%) and higher, with some samples that reach 4n8 (99.998%). In combination with breakthroughs in the assessment of resources and treatment depth, the discoveries China are getting closer to large -scale domestic production.

Sources from the industry said that China has imported more than $ 1.5 billion to quarter sand every year, mainly from the sparring mine in the United States. This imported sand is mainly used to make quartz melting pot, essential for monocrystalline silicon production in the sun sector. Producing 1 GW waffles uses 25 to 30 tons of quartz sand.

Replacing the input with domestic delivery could reduce quarterly costs by 20% to 30% and lower wafer production costs with $ 0.01 to $ 0.02 each.
