CNNP Optoelectronics, a subsidiary of solar energy of China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC), presented a new perovskite sun module at the recent 2025 SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference in Shanghai.

The product measures 1,200 mm x 1,600 mm and has a power conversion -efficiency of 16.5%, as certified by TÜV Süd.

The module has a structure with double glass and anti-PID materials, which makes it possible to operate at 1500 V and resistance relationships up to 275 km/h. The manufacturer said it was designed for use in hard environments such as large heights and coastal areas.

Technical highlights are the use of a poly-4PACZ polymer self-assembled monolaag that forms a passivating interface on a nanometer scale. The module is said to retain more than 95% of its initial efficiency after prolonged exposure to temperatures of 85 C.

Improvements of structural stability include a 30 Nm water -oxygen barrier layer applied via the deposition of atomic layer, a closed mechanical locking housing and an adjustable wiring interface that protects against salt and dust corrosion.

The module is currently produced on a 200 MW pilot line according to the “Dark Factory” standards, which means that it works without human labor. De Lijn uses equipment developed in our own country, from deposit tools to encapsulation systems.

An important innovation is the stable production of the module in environments without temperature or moisture control, which reduces both capital and operating costs, the company said.

CNNP opto-electronics said that the process is also cost and resource efficient. Compared to crystalline silicon cells, the production time is shortened by 40%, using materials with 60%and energy consumption by 80%.

The carbon footprint of the module is reportedly 70% lower. The design also minimizes the use of toxic materials such as lead. The company expects large -scale production to lower the costs to under CNY 0.5 ($ 0.07)/W, about 30% less than traditional silicon modules.

CNNP Optoelectronics said it is planning to build a Gigawatt scale production facility in 2026, with commercial activities that are expected in 2028.
