Egypt-Uae Joint Venture wins IVOOR Coast of Solar Tersion for € 0.0310/kWh-PV Magazine International

Infinity Power submitted winning bids of € 0.03310 ($ 0.039)/kWh and € 0.03213/kWh for two solar projects of a total of 80 MW, which marks the lowest rates that are secured by an independent power producer in West and Central Africa.

Infinity Power, a joint venture between that of Egypt Infinity and tabu dhabi established Masdarhas received two solar projects in the Ivory coast.

The company will design, finance, build and exploit the two of the sun factories associated on the ground, which have a combined capacity of 80 MW, after winning an international purchasing exercise.

The winning bids amounted to € 0.03310/kWh for the site in Laboa and € 0.03213/kWh for a site in Touba. According to a statement from International Finance Corp. these rates are a new record for the lowest solar -independent power producer rates in West and Central Africa.

The Ivory Coast government organized the bid process through the scale division program of the World Bank Group, a financing approach that use various instruments of the World Bank Group. It was supported by a financial contribution from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The construction of the projects is expected to start by March 2026, with completion planned for before the end of next year. Together it is expected that the two solar panels will bring clean electricity to more than 400,000 households, schools, hospitals and companies in remote areas on the Ivory Coast.

Minister of Eveny Coast Energy Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly said that the projects will help to increase production capacity, to strengthen the energy energy benefit and create local job and investment options. “These projects are an important step to take on our climate obligations by 2030,” the minister added.

The two solar projects from Infinity Power are the newest in a series of large-scale solar energy plants that are being developed in the Ivory Coast.

Last week Ivorian developer Tongon Solaire signed an agreement with the government of Ivory Coast for one 52 MW solar panel. In February, the Dubai -based developer Amea Power started 50 MW solar project.

In April 2024, the Ministry of Mine, oil and energy from Ivory Coast unveiled plans to build 12 solar plants with a total capacity of 678 MW Before the end of the decade. The goal is part of THThe aim of the country to increase the share of renewable energy sources in its national energy mix to 45% by 2030.
