On Rotterdam-based S4 Energy, a 10 MW/40 MWH Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rilland has commissioned the Netherlands, which marks what the company claims is the first 4-end endurance system of its kind in the country.

The 4-URAL DISCOUNT CUCCESSIVE of the project distinguishes it from shorter-duration systems that are often used for frequency regulation. CCO of S4 Energy, Dominique Becker Hoff, stated that the Dutch grid is under pressure, referring to the growing demand and a mismatch between availability and demand of renewable energy.
