Framatome and eternic atomics to scale up the production of space for future missions

Framatome and perpetual Atomics have formalized a new strategic partnership via a memorandum of agreement (MOU), with the aim of scaling up the production of Americium-based radio isto power systems, often referred to as “space batteries”. Signed during the Farnborough International Space Show, the Agreement sketches a joint effort to promote the industrial processing of Americium into sealed sources for radio -Isotope heating units (RHUS) and Radio -Sotoop Thermoelectric generators (RTGs).

These power systems, which generate heat due to the natural decay of radio isotopes, can immediately use that heat or convert it into electrical energy. Under the available isotopes, Americon-241 stands out because of the long half-life of approximately 430 years, making it an optimal choice for space emissions that require sustainable energy over long-term duration.

The collaboration is designed to tackle the need for reliable energy solutions for deep space exploration, with a focus on industrializing the production processes to meet the requirements of upcoming missions.

“We are delighted to collaborate with perpetual atomics to jointly pioneer the further development of nuclear power technology, pushing new frontiers in Enabling Deep space exploration. The partnership fores perpetual atomics POSTOARTOPERE Framatome’s Global Nuclear Pedigree in Production-Scale Industrialization, “Said Dr. Kason Bala, Chief Commercial Officer, UK Defense and Space at Framatome Ltd.

Professor Richard Ambrosi, Chief Scientific Officer, founder and director of perpetual Atomics, noted: “The VK and Europe organize a large inventory of Americium, and combined with technological adulthood, know -how, know -how, and industrialization of the industrial system for the work of the work on the work of the work on the work of the work” “” “

The agreement uses the extensive experience of framatome in the field of nuclear production and compliance with the regulations and the two decades of innovation in the field, a large part of which is powered by the Space Nuclear Power Group at the University of Leicester. Framatome Space and Framatome LTD is expected to play an important role in supporting Lunar and Mars exploration missions under UK and ESA initiatives later this decade.
