The SmartStack Energy Storage Platform Fluence Energy Is now commercially available for applications on a grid scale. The deliveries of the AC-based system are planned to start in Q4 2025.

SmartStack’s Patent-Cut-seeding design splits strategic battery storage systems in units with easily transmitted weight and dimensions, reducing shipping restrictions and installation complexity. Onsite maximizes the system the density of the project location, which supplies up to 7.5 MWh energy density with the integration of batteries of 300 AH. This density is approximately 30% higher than currently available AC-based systems. The platform makes more megawatt-hour generation possible within existing project footprints, reducing costs and making rather limited sites viable for the development of storage project.

SmartStack presents energy storage design again through a flexible modular architecture that can be adapted to different market needs. Two- and four hours of storage duration and longer duration of six and eight hours are now all for sale. The product’s own form factor includes two important components:

  • Smart Skid – a basic platform that houses the brain of the SmartStack system. The Smart Skid integrates advanced cooling equipment, Power Control systemware, all cabling and extensive monitoring options with handy maintenance access.
  • Pods – SmartStack -Batterijpods are on top of the smart skid and contain the battery cells of the system. PODs support cells from multiple suppliers and insure the most competitive prices and top performance. The pods are also designed to be changed with replacement units during maintenance or technological upgrades to maximize the availability of the system.

“The track record of Fluence of Innovation and Implementation speed drives us as we lead the energy storage industry forward. Supported by our leading expertise that develops and implements innovative solutions worldwide, SmartStack will again consider how systems are designed, built and maintained, ”said Fluence President & CEO Julian Nebeda. “By taking on critical challenges, such as the shipping restrictions of the supply chain, product density, usability and modularity, we deliver a platform that is more scalable and easier to operate than competing solutions. This translates to Superior Project Economics for our customers. “

Guaranteed to deliver up to 99% availability with Fluence’s long -term agreement to help maximize the innovative approach to income, makes the innovative approach to SmartStack intelligence, not hardware, the heart of innovation. The platform increases system information with locally implemented AI, autonomous optimization of embedded controls, while it is fully visible in the storage portfolios.

The modular design of SmartStack makes a flexible and cost-effective supply chain-localization strategy possible, so that components can be produced or produced regionally to optimize availability, costs and compliance, while the resilience against geopolitical and logistical disruptions is improved.

“SmartStack retains the uncompromising dedication of Fluence to Safety and Cyber Security, with multi-layered protection systems,” said Mark Berger, Fluence VP of product and program management. “The platform integrates the same leading safety functions as our Trusted Gridstack products that include large-scale fire test certification, now with a much higher density. These advanced safety features work together to prevent, detect and contain thermal events, so that potential damage and downtime are minimized. Our relentless dedication to safety is the core of every product that we deliver, and SmartStack is no exception. “
