SECI has kicked off reverse auction to purchase 539,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year under India’s strategic interventions Green Hydrogen Transition Scheme (SIGHT)., with ten-year contracts. Companies have until July 29 to submit bids through a cost-based competitive bidding process. “The incentive will be INR. 8.82 ($0.11)/kg green ammonia in the first year of production and supply, INR. 7.06/kg during the second year of production and supply, and INR. 5.30/kg during the third year of production and delivery,” said SECI, adding that 11 projects will be awarded under the tender.

Jara said it has officially opened a 24 MW renewable hydrogen plant in Herøya, Norway, claiming it is “the largest of its kind currently operating in Europe.” The Norwegian chemical company now produces renewable hydrogen and ammonia, and has already delivered its first shipment of fertilizers made from renewable ammonia produced at the plant. Hydrogen will replace natural gas. Jara said that low-carbon ammonia fertilizers, produced using carbon capture storage (CCS), will form a significant part of the portfolio in the future.

Total Energies and Air Products have signed an agreement to supply 70,000 tons of green hydrogen annually in Europe for 15 years, starting in 2030. TotalEnergies said that this first long-term contract follows the tender to supply 500,000 tons of green hydrogen per year to decarbonize European refineries.
