Electricity prices fell on most major European markets during the week of June 23, according to analysis of ALEASOFT Energy Prognosing.

Compared to the week before, the consultancy noted a decrease in the weekly average electricity price in the Belgian, British, Dutch, German, Italian, Nordic, Portuguese and Spanish markets. The exception was the French market, where the average price rose by 19% week after week.

The highest average weekly price was found in the Italian market, for € 117.27 ($ 138.14)/MWH, while the lowest average weekly price was in the Nordic market, at € 15.84/MWh. The Nordic market also saw the lowest daily average price of the week, at € 0.79/MWh on June 29, for the lowest daily figure since last August.

ALEASOFT attributed the decrease in electricity prices A decrease in gas and CO2 emission prices, while in some countries the demand for electricity also decreased.

All analyzed markets, except for the Italian, Portuguese and Spanish markets, recorded negative electricity prices last week, with the lowest price per hour of the week found in Belgium, at -€ 35.19/MWh on 29 June between 14:00 and 15:00.

ALEASOFT predicts that electricity prices will rise in the first week of Europe in the first week of July, driven by an increased demand for electricity. An exception is expected in Portugal and Spain, where it is expected that increased wind energy production will lower.

The consultancy also found the production of solar energy last week in Italy and Spain, but fell in France, Germany and Portugal.

Both Portugal and Spain broke their records for the daily production of solar energy on 26 June and reached 30 GWH and 235 GWH respectively. Italy achieved the same performance on June 29, generated with 157 GWh.

ALEASOFT expects that the production of solar energy will have increased this week in the German and Spanish markets and will have fallen in Italy.
