Commercial solar energy company with multiple tenants King Energy has completed construction of its new solar facility at the California shopping center The Shoppes at Chino Hills.

Located approximately 30 miles from Los Angeles in the suburb of Chino Hills, the new solar project is a milestone for the property, its tenants and the community, King Energy says. The company adds that the project is a multi-array solar system expressly designed to maximize on-site renewable energy generation at five different points on the property.

Rob Porter, CCO of King Energy, says the five-point interconnection system has a cumulative impact of “nearly two million kWh.”

“Renters here are saving money and using clean energy,” Porter said. “The property owner has a new rent-paying tenant in King Energy. And the community benefits from distributed solar energy generated right here in the city center. That’s the King Energy model working as designed.”

King Energy will manage all aspects of the system, including long-term operation and tenant billing, the company said.

Solar energy consolidation

The Chino Hills-based solar facility is part of King Energy’s broader mission, officials with the Durango, Colorado-based company say. The company strives to provide communities with both financial and environmental value by generating energy in the same place it is consumed. This practice reduces strain on the electric grid and creates value for commercial property owners, both of which are especially important in energy-hungry states like California.

The company’s software platform, One Billalso consolidates utility and solar costs into a single billing transaction. All of this is in service of ease of use for tenants of King Energy’s projects, representatives say.

Chino Hills City Councilman Peter Rogers attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. He says the installation could potentially serve as a model system for future solar installations in the US

“This project is more than just panels on a roof,” says Rogers. “It represents a serious commitment to sustainability and progressive investments in our community. The Shoppes at Chino Hills is essentially our downtown, and when our retail partners take the lead on initiatives like these, they make our community stronger and more attractive to residents and visitors alike.

“I hope this sets a fantastic example for other commercial properties to follow.”

King Energy currently operates and manages more than 250 renewable energy projects, benefiting approximately 2,000 business tenants in 12 different states.
