Sassmann – based in Ketsch, Germany – offers a specialist ‘solar panel grid’ solution for protecting photovoltaic systems from pigeons. The system is designed to permanently prevent pigeons from nesting.

Sassmann founder Patric Sassmann said operators and potential owners of PV systems should take pigeon-related risks seriously and take preventative measures early, noting that cleaning up or repairing damage afterwards is generally more complex than implementing protection beforehand.

The “solar panel grid” is not only suitable for new installations, but also for existing PV systems on the roof of homes and businesses. The company focuses on professional installation on location and correct installation. Sassmann’s services also include the removal of nests and nesting material in accordance with animal welfare regulations, as well as the removal of feces and other dirt and the cleaning of gutters. The security systems are individually adapted to the existing substructure of installed PV systems.

An important advantage of the ‘solar panel grid’ is the purely mechanical attachment using special clamping clips, according to the company. The system is mounted on the module frame without drilling, gluing or other interventions, so the manufacturer’s warranty remains intact. For a discreet visual integration of the pigeon protection system, Sassmann uses galvanized steel with an additional black PVC coating. This material combination also offers high weather resistance and corrosion protection.

The surrounding grille closes off the open space between the roof surface and the solar panels, preventing pigeons from nesting and maintaining the necessary rear ventilation of the modules.

The sale and installation of the “solar panel network” is handled directly by the company. You can contact us via the company website. It also notes that the family-owned business serves Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. You can also request free quotes for pigeon protection online.
