LONGi has once again broken a world record for the efficiency of silicon solar cells. As certified by the German Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH), new silicon heterojunction back-contact (HBC) solar cells designed by LONGi have achieved an efficiency of 27.30% under laboratory conditions.

LONGi now holds the world records for efficiency in crystalline silicon solar cells and for efficiency in tandem solar cells of crystalline silicon-perovskite. In November 2023, LONGi set the efficiency record for the silicon-perovskite tandem at 33.9%.

The new record was announced at the same time as the unveiling of the new Hi-MO 9 solar panel. The Hi-MO 9 can reach a power of 660W, based on the second generation hybrid passivated back contact (HPBC) solar cell technology and the TaiRay wafer, a silicon wafer launched by LONGi in March 2024. The Hi-MO 9 module has a conversion efficiency of up to 24.43%.

“Our new Hi-MO 9 module enables world-leading energy generation and outperforms other technologies on the market in an equal land use scenario,” said Dennis She, vice president of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co. “Furthermore, it maintains this performance throughout its life, because the module is designed to the highest standards of reliability. Power plant owners can be assured that a plant built with the Hi-MO 9 module will help them use their land as efficiently as possible and get the most value from sunlight.”
