Longi has released a new lightweight solar module that weighs at 16.3 kilograms, making it particularly suitable for commercial and industrial (C&I) roofs with structural limitations.

The Hi-MO X10 Guardian Light Design module is built on the Hybrid Passivated BC 2.0 of the company (HPBC) Celt technology and has a maximum output of 560 W, with a power density of 250 W per square meter and a mass production -efficiency of 24.8%.

The module measures 1,990 mm x 1.134 mm x 30 mm and the total weight is 16.3 kg, or 7.2 kg per square meter, making it approximately 32% lighter than conventional modules with one glass.

Longi said that the lightweight module considerably reduces the load on the roof and is ideal for commercial buildings with structural limitations, including older industrial facilities, warehouses and buildings with thin roofs.

“It opens opportunities for solar energy where traditional modules require expensive or impractic reinforcement measures,” the company said, adding that the need for structural reinforcement removes the installation time lines and avoid disruptions for current operations. “

Despite the lower weight, Longi said that the module maintains high mechanical stability thanks to its one line of welding ribbon on the back and the i-shaped reinforcement ribs on the back.

The frame strength is further improved with an increase of 5% thickness, resulting in 20% higher mechanical resistance and 50% lower central distortion under voltage. The module has 1.6 mm semi-hedged front glass, while the rear film weighs 50 g/m² more than standard products, which improves the resistance to moisture and UV exposure.

The module is compatible with standard A-Side Klemmontage systems, which means that the challenges related to glue-based mounting are avoided.
