Mibet has released new floats for PV systems used in deep water. The G4M system, already installed in Indonesia on a water body with a depth of 60 meters, makes it possible for the solar panels to be tilted at 5 degrees to 15 degrees.

Chinese PV mounting system supplier Mibet has unveiled a new mounting system for floating solar projects in deep water environments.

The MRAC floating PV mounting system G4M is constructed from polyethylene with high density (HDPE) and zinc-aluminum-Magnesium (ZN-AL-MG) coated steel.

The company said it has already tested the system in a 326 kW floating PV array in collaboration with the Indonesian state-owned company, Perdusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

The project was installed on a reservoir in South Kalimantan, with water depths of up to 60 meters and significant fluctuations in water levels. To take on these challenges, the system uses point-to-point dimensions and a gravity anchor block reinforcement strategy.

It supports both framed and frameless PV panels that are installed with a tilt of 5 degrees to 15 degrees. The system is resistant to wind loads up to 45 meters per second and snow loads of 1 kn/m². The Floater module has a lower weight of 90 kg/m², while Walkaway drivers support 150 kg/m². The floats come in short, long or portrait configurations.

“The G4M consists of four types of drivers, which can be combined flexibly. The modular design makes a layout with three rows possible, reducing the amount of floating material, while the installed capacity within the same area is increased,” said Mibet. “The most important floater module has a Y-shaped design. To improve structural stability, the contact area of the excellent connection points of the floating connections has been expanded, so that even power distribution of the joints causes the joints.”
