Developer elements of solar and energy storage Green broken the ground on the 360 MW/720mWH StayTorpe Battery Energy Storage System (Bess) in Nottinghamshire.
The £ 71.5 million (€ 82.9 million) StayTorpe BESS project has a duration capacity of 2 hours designed for the balance services of Grid and peak demand management. It is being developed in collaboration with Mition Power & Grid.
The 720mWH Bess project, which received Planning permission in June last year, It is expected that it will be fully put into use in mid -2027.
The facility will connect to the National Transmission Network via a specially built 400KV schedule Onderstation adjacent to the existing StayTorpe National Grid Infrastructure.
G2 Energy, an Mition Power & Grid Company, is Leading De Engineering, Purchasing and Construction (EPC) Phase as the main designer and main contractor. The contract range includes both the BESS facility and the high-voltage infrastructure.
As previously reported by Solar -Energy PortalEnergy storage-oriented Lithium-Ion Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Hithium will Deliver several units of its 5MWH Bess DC block for the 360 MW battery storage project.
The system architecture contains several 5MWH BESS DC blocks that are configured for optimum power delivery and energy storage efficiency. The design includes advanced thermal management systems, fire suppression technology and inverters of graters to offer essential graters services.
This implementation marks one of the largest British projects in the company so far. The manufacturer has set up a special delivery team to support the installation and commissioning process.
Mark Caskey, director of Mition Projects, emphasized that the project will “be one of the most important energy storage projects in the UK” and noted that the developers will strive to deliver value for the local communities.
“Our collaboration with Elements Green also creates real value for local communities – from jobs and education to biodiversity and then. We are dedicated to support our customers on their travels to Net Zero to achieve the clean energy goals of the British government and to create better places and flowering communities,” Caskey added.
At the end of last month, elements of Green insured one Large financing injection of Danish Investor Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The two companies have instructed a platform financing agreement of £ 69.5 million (€ 80 million) via CIP’s Green Credit Fund I (CI GCF I).
The funds of this agreement will be used to develop and construct elements of the Zonne -PV and Bess pipeline of elements, which are currently more than 13 GW of combined solar and bess capacity.
