The Solar Tracker manufacturer Nexpracker, based in California, has taken over the American steel sun frame maker Origami Solar.

The All-Cash Deal is appreciated at around $ 53 million, including a future consideration of the conditional profit, and marks the access of Nexpracker in the market for solar panels.

Nexpracker said that the acquisition-dedicated panel-frame design and engineering expertise adds to the company, to support continuous innovation in integrated Panel-Tracker solutions.

Founder and CEO Dan Shugar said that the shift from aluminum to steel frames is ‘forced’, offering stronger, more sustainable and low-carbon alternatives to solar installations.

“Steel offers more strength at competitive costs and considerably reduced carbon intensity,” said Shugar. “The most important thing is that it helps to unlock opportunities for localized production of Steel coil through the final manufacture, while it delivers real customer benefits, such as faster panel installation and improved long -term system performance. And with an estimated total addressable market of more than $ 750 million in the US alone, we see this as a substantial new business opportunity for Nexpracker. “

Origami Solar specializes in roll-shaped steel production. In June 2024, the company announced partnerships With three American steel manufacturers to start producing steel solar module Frames in Ohio and Texas in their own country. THe, established in Oregon, founded in 2019, won one PV -Magazine grant in 2023 for production.

Nexpracker was mentioned in June Top worldwide supplier For solar rackers for the tenth consecutive year, 28.5 GW sends, equal to around 26% of the worldwide market share. The company had a growth of 39% on an annual basis in 2024.
