Nextracker launches NX Foundation Solutions, an initiative to deploy its trackers in all soil types, including the introduction of NX Anchor, a new ground-mounted foundation. NX Anchor is further expanding its portfolio of Nextracker solar foundations following the company’s acquisition of ground-mounting company Ojjo in June and Solar Pile International in July.

NX Foundation Solutions also includes a range of services that provide geotechnical assessments, on-site testing, foundation design, product selection, proprietary equipment and installation support. It also includes drilling and piling equipment training, sales, leasing and support, including the Ojjo Truss Driver. The Truss Driver is a patented all-in-one drilling and piling machine equipped with GPS that has been used for more than one million foundation piles.

“We are pleased to now be able to offer our customers and partners comprehensive and innovative solar foundation solutions,” said Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextracker. “Delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions that help improve productivity and safety, accelerate project timelines and enable light construction practices are objectives of this program. NX Foundation Solutions offers our developers and EPC customers a full range of technologies and services for a wide range of soil types, from rocky to soft, and virtually everything in between.”

With the rapid growth of the solar industry in recent years, more and more projects are being developed in locations that do not offer flat land with ideal ground conditions. Depending on the project location, Nextracker foundations can require up to 50% less steel and up to 70% less embedment depth than traditional piles. This can help lead to reductions in costs and schedule contingencies, lower pile rejection and remediation rates during construction, improvements in project development and construction timelines, and a safer work environment while reducing impact on native soils, bringing a ‘light on land’ approach emerges. .

“Nexracker’s expansion into the foundation space helps reduce the complexity and risk of our projects,” said Stephen Jones, president of renewables, Primoris Services Corporation. “Based on our experience, Nextracker offers value-added foundation solutions for the industry, as projects become increasingly complex with challenging underground conditions. These solutions can streamline the design, procurement and installation process while reducing the risk profile of EPC contractors and developers. We believe the sector will benefit from this.”

Nextracker’s new foundation portfolio is designed to work with its catalog of solar trackers, which work with adverse ground conditions including expansive, soft, loose, rocky or frost-prone soil.

Nextracker will present NX Foundation Solutions and the new NX Anchor this week at RE+ in Anaheim, California, at booth C40038.
