Comed and Prologis have announced a new 1.56 MW Community Solar project on the roof in Franklin Park, Illinois. It is the first in an 82-MW portfolio for Prologis in the State in the next two years. More than half of the energy credit of the portfolio will be aimed at income -qualified households, which means that access to clean energy in disadvantaged communities in the area of Chicago and then is expanded.
“We are proud to participate in Comed to officially launch this project, the first of many community projects for the community that our energy team uses our Roofs by Illinois,” said Carter Andrus, the most important operational officer of Prologis. “Illinois is one of the fastest-growing solar markets in the country, and we are delighted to help his momentum lead. This is about more than solar panels it is to use our scale to make a real difference in the communities where we work and bring the benefits of clean energy to more people in Illinois.”
Sunvest Solar, a national developer and independent power manufacturer, designed the Franklin Park 3 installation on the roof of the community on a roof on top of a 195,000 ft2 Prologis Logistics Center. Prologis will possess and exploit the Community Solar Project, which will mainly serve residential customers, with the remaining community -zonne credits that benefit local companies.
