State ownership Petroleum Company Qatarenerty has inaugurated two solar projects with a combined capacity of 875 MW.

The Ras Laffan and Mesaieed PV energy plants are located in the industrial city of Ras Laffan in northeastern Qatar.

Together they double more than the cumulative solar capacity of Qatar, which means that the total is up to 1,675 MW.

In 2023 JA Solar and Samsung C&T signed a module feeding agreement for more than 1.6 million Deepblue 3.0 modules for the project.

Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, said during an inauguration ceremony earlier this week during an inauguration ceremony, said that Qatar “went beyond the trust in the expertise of others for the construction, operation and maintenance of solar energy-centers, and started with the help of such projects of such projects.”

In September 2024, QatarEnergy plans for one unveiled 2 GW Solar Plant in Dukhan, West -qatar. The project is expected to start the activities in 2029.

At the end of the decade, Qatar focuses on a portfolio of renewable energy of more than 4 GW.
