In schedules that are increasingly dominated by renewable energy sources, scheduling technology has emerged as a critical tool for maintaining stability and guaranteeing a reliable effect of the power system. In this interview with ESS NewsRui Sun, Sungrow’s deputy General Manager-Grid Technology Center, explains how Grid formation works, why it matters and where the technology already proves the value. He deals with technical challenges, regulatory gaps and why scheduling could soon become the new industrial stand.

One of the reasons why we started this conversation was the paper Sungrow that was released on granting technology. Could you go through us why you published it and what it treats?

Naturally. We have released the newspaper to share the insights and technical progress that we have made in the technology of grid -forming technology. As more inverters-based sources worldwide connect to energy systems, we recognized the need to give a clear overview of what scheduling actually entails as a control concept, but as a multi-layer integration of hardware, software and technical level. The paper emphasizes how we replicate the fundamental behavior of synchronous generators, such as slowness and damping, while retaining the flexibility of power electronics. It is also an attempt to contribute to industrial understanding and cooperation.

How long has grid formation been developing and what did the path look like for Sungrow?

The concept dates one or two decades. The industry has worked on the implementation and different manufacturers can use something different approaches. At Sungrow, our journey has focused on building a solid technological basis that merges the physics of traditional generation with the benefits of modern inverter systems. This includes everything, from frequency response and short -circuit support to thermal management and multi -layered control architectures. Our goal has always been to bring stability, scalability and interoperability to complex energy systems- against and off-grid.
