The Chinese PV Perovskite specialist Renshine Solar has achieved 27.5% power conversion efficiency for a flexible all-perovskite solar cell. The company said that the result is a world record for this cell typology. It was achieved with support from Nanjing University in China and the University of Victoria in Canada.

The team quickly cooled freshly coated perovskiet films under a gas stream and supplied additives via ION transport channels. The method made a defective and controlled crystallization on flexible substrates possible, which avoids cracks and empties.

Renshine transferred the laboratory scale “Dynamic crystallization control” process to industrial roll-to-roll slit coating equipment in less than a month. It produced uniform wide-band gap films at 30 cm x 40 cm flexible substrates.

The devices showed high mechanical resilience. After 10,000 bending cycles with a radius of 10 mm, they retained more than 97% of the initial efficiency. The modules also remained stable under thermal cycles, maximum power point and ultraviolet pre-blot position. Prof. Li Yongxi from Nanjing University said that the practical value lies in solutions designed for implementation goals.

Based on this approach, the scientists built a flexible PV panel of 20.26 cm² flexibly with a certified efficiency of 23.0%. Both devices were detailed in the newspaper ‘In situ coating strategy for flexible dental modules for all perovskite“Published in Nature photos.

Renhine Solar, founded in 2021 by Prof. dr. Tan Haren from Nanjing University, comes from the academic team behind several world record perovskiet cells. The leaders have surpassed 11 global milestones for efficiency and advanced tandem technology, included in the ‘top 10 scientific progress’ of China. The rigid cell efficiency of the laboratory reached 31.27% in 2025.

Renshine runs a production line of 150 MW launched in 2023, which means that 1.2 x 0.6 m flexible modules with 20% efficiency, certified by NREL and TÜV. At the beginning of 2025 the CNY invested 1.25 billion (~ US $ 170 million) in a GW scaling facility in 2026, with module grouts up to 2.4 × 1.2 m for land, BIPV and other markets. The Supply Chain includes TCO glass from Golden Glass, PoE film from Lushan New Materials and coating equipment from lead-intelligent, with more than 95% localization.

In 2023, Renshine and Nanjing University set up a photovoltaic industrial university laboratory of Perovskite to support co-working and technical workshops. Prof. Tan said: “Innovation must bridge the academic world, research and industry – the flexible breakthrough of Perovskiet is precisely that cooperation result.”

Renshine and his partners present the milestone as a step towards commercial flexible perovskiet modules, which offer lightweight, cheap, bendable and highly efficient designs. Potential applications include BIPV, mobile devices, wearables and space power systems. The shift from laboratory to industrial coating marks a new phase in the willingness of flexible perovskiet technology.
