Romania has assigned 1,488 MW Zonne -Zonne -Energy in its second contracts for Difference (CFD) auction for renewable energy sources. The prizes of the 26 winning solar offers varied from € 35.50 ($ 41.59)/MWh to € 45.20/MWh.
The results of the second auction of Romania, which are planning to obtain 1,472 MW of Sun and 2,000 MW onshore wind, have been announced.
A total of 26 solar offers from eight companies have received contracts for a difference, with a combined capacity of 1,488 MW.
Prizes for the winning solar offers vary from € 35.50/MWh to € 45.20/MWh, resulting in an average of € 40.46/MWh. This can be compared with a maximum exercise price of € 73/MWh set by the Ministry of Energy.
Analysis by the Romanian photovoltaic Industrial Association (RPIA) showed that project sizes have grown considerably compared to the first CFD auction of the country. The biggest winning solar bid last year was 70.2 MW, compared to 260 MW this year.
Irene Mihai, RPIA policy officer, said PV -Magazine That 22 of the 26 solar offers are partial capacities of a larger project. In the 2024 auction, each bid belonged to a specific project.
The newest CFD auction has also awarded 1.26 GW of wind for 23 projects, with prices ranging between € 65.17/MWH and € 79.50/MWh, which resulted in an average of € 73.80/MWh.
One of the largest individual winners in the tender was Rozlov Energy, who won three CFDs – two solar energy and one wind – a total of 731 MW in capacity. The two successful sunbods, submitted by Projectbedrijf West Power Investments, relate to the more than 1 GW DAMA Solar PV Park, which is currently being developed, which is being advertised as the largest sunficial in Europe as soon as it is completed. Mihai said that the two bids of solar energy corresponded to 260 MW each.
The CFD schedule of Romania is a 15-year support mechanism that offers a fixed exercise price for the energy produced. If market prices fall under the agreed rate, the bidder will receive the difference with the state, but if the prices are higher, they can pay the difference.
The scheme is supported by an investment of € 3 billion through the EU modernization fund. The first CFD auction in Romania assigned 432 MW Zonne -Zon and 1,096 MW of wind energy in December 2024.
Romania is on its way to breaking his record for solar energy added during a calendar year in 2025, after deploying 900 MW during the first six months of the year, according to figures from RPIA.
