Rystad -Energie said that Australia will fall 17% than its 82% purpose of renewable energy by 2030 among the most optimistic scenarios, where gas remains crucial for energy breach.

Rystad predicted capacity shortages driven by the pension of coal and gas factories, including Yallourn West and Eraring, by 2028 in New South Wales (NSW), South Australia (SA) and Victoria.

The research showed that batteries and pumped Hydro could tackle the instability of the schedule, 3 GW of which is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, but warned that delivering bottlenecks and long waiting times can delay for renewable energy and storage projects.

The federal government has tried to speed up projects through the National priority list for renewable energy (Nrepl), launched in March 2025, where important transmission, renewable generation and storage developments are identified nationally.
