Aurora Energy Research said in his latest report that the Global Electrolyzer Pipeline is approximately 1.3 TW, added with 26 new projects and canceled five. It noted that 114 GW is in development, with 32% planned for commissioning by the end of 2026. In the past two years, 6.2 GW has reached the final investment decision worldwide, while 7.3 GW has been canceled, which reforms a market. The company reported an important regulatory progress in the European Union between October and April, and called Refueleu and Fueleu Maritime as important sources of clarity. By 2030, it is expected that at least 10 bidding zones, including regions in Italy and Scandinavia, will meet the 90% renewable electricity threshold that is needed to produce renewable hydrogen directly from the grid. Aurora also said that hybrid electricity purchase agreements (PPAs), with a level of hydrogen ranging from € 5.40 ($ 6.13)/kg to € 10.60/kg, are often preferred for their price stability and wider market availability. The Northerns and Iberia continue to lead in cheap renewable hydrogen production.

MIT World Peace University (MitWPU) has developed a process that uses micro -organisms to generate hydrogen from sugar ride tap, while at the same time converts carbon dioxide into acetic acid. The system works at room temperature and uses sugar cane juice, sea water and waste water. Indian University said that it has submitted a patent application for technology and applied for financing from the India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). MITWPU has also submitted a proposal to the MNRE to set up a center of excellence for green hydrogen and is of the opinion that the process could lower the production costs of hydrogen production to $ 1/kg.

Oman has signed a joint development agreement with the Netherlands to develop a liquid hydrogen corridor that connects the two countries with Germany. The Omani Government said The route would serve as the world’s first commercial export channel for liquid hydrogen. The corridor would make direct shipments from DUQM, Oman to the port of Amsterdam, with further distribution to important logistics hubs in Germany, such as the German port of Duisburg.

The French government has awarded a subsidy of € 149 million to LYFE to support a green hydrogen production facility near the Grand Canal of Le Havre. The plant is expected to reach a capacity of a maximum of 34 tons per day. The project was selected in 2022 under the third wave of important projects of the European Commission of Common European Interest (IPCEI) aimed at hydrogen. The construction is planned for a 2.8-hectare site, with completion aimed at 2029.

Ansaldo Green Tech has signed an agreement with Duferco Energia to deliver and order an electrolyzer of 1 MW for the Hydrogen Valley project in Giammoro, Sicily. The system, which uses anion exchange membrane (AEM) technology, will produce more than 500 kilograms of green hydrogen every day with 99.9% purity. Ansaldo Green Tech said The wider project includes a 4 MW solar system to provide the electrolyzer with power, so that the site can generate approximately 100 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
