SolarEdge partners with WeaveGrid to expand utility support for VPPs

SolarEdge Technologies collaborates with Weaving grida networking software provider for electric utilities, supporting residential battery systems in electric grid programs. This will extend WeaveGrid’s Distribution-Integrated System Capacity Orchestration, which was originally designed to manage EV charging at scale.

“As electrification accelerates, utilities need solutions that go beyond managing a single type of asset,” said Apoorv Bhargava, co-founder and CEO of WeaveGrid. “The partnership with SolarEdge reflects DISCO’s next phase: coordinating electric vehicles and home batteries together so that utilities can manage local and system-wide grid needs while providing customers with more options to support the electric grid and receive financial incentives.”

DISCO is designed as a utility platform for matching customers’ energy consumption with network needs at the distribution level. For SolarEdge, the partnership expands the ways in which its residential battery customers can participate in utility programs, including virtual power plants and other grid services, depending on utility offerings and customer enrollment. For utilities, it is an approach to managing growing electrification and distributed energy resources on a single asset-level platform.

“This partnership provides further access to utility programs that put more control and value directly into the hands of homeowners – from optimizing when their batteries charge and discharge to earning incentives to support grid stability,” said Tamara Sinensky, senior manager of grid services product at SolarEdge.
