Global PV -Omsorter and provider of energy storage system Sungrow is currently expanding its presence in the Midden -Oosten and Noord -Africa (Mena) region.

“We discussed this market seven years ago, when we won the largest scale -based project, at least at that time. Since then we have improved our localization strategy and built up offices in Saudi Arabia and of course in Dubai, ”said Lei Wu, Coo of Sungrow Mea Region PV -Magazine At the World Future Energy Summit, which was held in mid -January in Abu Dhabi, VAE.

“This market grows very quickly and as growth continues, competition increases,” he added. “I believe that this growth process will continue for both solar and storage in 2025 and 2026, especially in the VAE and Saudi Arabia, which are now two established markets. I expect a great potential for the C&I Business, where we already see an increasing amount of projects that are being built, but large -scale factories will still dominate these markets in the future. “

In the coming years, the company expects a solid, organic growth in the use of solar energy in the C&I space, because “sustainability goals are imposed by government and stakeholders of companies.”

“The primary motives for this growth are increasing electricity prices, energy security, energy-self-supply and sustainability goals of companies that nowadays became more relevant than ever,” said Wu. “As a result of the momentum, the total C&I installations of Sungrow in the Mena region 2 GW have surpassed and is expected to reach an impressive 3 GW within two years.”

Despite this progress, WU emphasized the need for policy support to guarantee the profitability of the PV segment on the roof in the short term. He also believes that Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq offer new opportunities. “It is important that we build stable bases in all these countries, with the locals,” he added. “We are planning to build in some of these more service warehouses, where we already serve different facilities.”

According to Wu, Sungrow closed a 7.8 GWH battery storage deal from Saudi Arabia last year. “We remain operations in the Mena regional scales, because we want to form the next phase of the development of solar and energy storage in the area,” concluded Wu.
