TDS Lithium-ion battery Gujarat PVT. Ltd. (TDSG), a joint venture from Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki, started the local production of lithium battery electrodes in India. The facility is the first in the country with localization at cell level.

The production of electrodes will produce more than 80% of the battery value in their own country. The batteries supply the hybrid vehicles from Maruti Suzuki.

The three Japanese companies will produce battery cells in India for the first time. The TDSG factory in Gujarat was announced for the first time in 2017.

Suzuki also revealed the E Vitara, his first global electric battery. Production in India will serve more than 100 export markets, including Europe and Japan, creating the country as the global EV -Hub of Suzuki.
