According to Quinbrook, during the commissioning phase in May, the export of electricity from Cleve Hill peaked at a level that is equivalent to 0.7% of the national power demand of the UK. Image: Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners.

Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners completed the construction and started commercial activities of the 373 MW Cleve Hill Solar Park, now the largest operational in the UK.

Cleve Hill, located in Kent, now exports 100% of his capacity. The construction of the solar project started in 2023 and Quinbrook said that the construction is now underway on a 150 MW CO location battery energy storage system (BESS).

After completion of the Bess, Cleve Hill goes from the largest sunfaling factory in the UK to the largest co-located solar storage project built in the UK. According to Quinbrook, during the commissioning phase in May, the export of electricity from Cleve Hill peaked at a level that is equivalent to 0.7% of the national power demand of the UK.

The capacity of Cleve Hill is four times higher than that of the next largest operational solar power plant in the UK, the Llanwern Solar Farm in Newport, Wales, with a capacity of 49.9 MW.

The solar and storage factory was the first solar energy project that was agreed to a national important infrastructure project (NSIP) and is supported by the largest Solar + Bess project financing that is undertaken in the UK.

It was also the first solar -NSIP to get a Difference (CFD) contract in round 4 of the auction (AR4), and advantages of the largest corporate Power Purchen Agreement (CPPA) that has been performed in the UK so far signed at Supermarket Chain Tesco PLC.

According to the director of Quinbrook and the regional leader of the VK, Keith Winins, Cleve Hill “says a benchmark for large-scale solar projects to help the British energy system and show how investing in the infrastructure that is needed to switch the VK to clean energy to clean energy can create and new bars can be able to create new jobs create “.
