The Transmission and System Operator of Romania (TSO), Truselectrica, has published an implementation procedure for assigning grid connection capacity in the coming auction-based grid connection mechanism of Romania.
From the beginning of next year, all new generation and energy storage facilities of 5 MW or more are needed to secure access to the grid through annual auctions. The Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (Anre) took over the methodology for the annual auction process in mid -2024 in an attempt to manage the congestion of the network and prevent speculative projects.
Under the framework of Anre, Transectrica was required to prepare The implementation and procedure for the auction platform. Analysis by law firm Nyerges & Partners, based in Bucharest explains that auctions are organized annually, which covers an allocation period of 10 years that starts two years after the auction.
