TotalEnergies announced it has completed a 7 MW solar project at a closed landfill in Maryland. The Parkton Landfill now houses a solar panel that will generate approx 11% of the Baltimore County government’s annual electricity consumption.

“This project shows how Baltimore County can turn yesterday’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities,” said County Executive Kathy Klausmeier. “We are lowering costs for taxpayers and making investments that will benefit our communities for decades.”

Following the expected completion of the Hernwood Landfill solar project in 2028, the province expects to generate an equivalent of 55% of its electricity production from renewable energy.
