In a document Published on Thursday morning In the federal register, President Donald Trump has reversed 18 orders and actions of earlier administrations, including Presidential determination no. 2022-15who encouraged the domestic production of PV modules for solar energy under the Defense Production Act of 1950. The initial provision published in June 2022 stated that without this order of the “American industry, it cannot reasonably be expected to offer the possibility for the required industrial source … in time.”

“I think that action to expand the domestic production capacity for photovoltaic modules and module components is necessary to prevent an industrial source or critical technology to seriously influence the national defense capacity,” Bides stated in the document.

The Defense Production Act of 1950 is built on the idea that the American national defense depends on a domestic production basis that is able to deliver necessary material in wartime or terrorism. Other orders withdrawn on Thursday influenced the production of electrolyzers, fuel cells, electric heat pumps and insulation, as well as assistance to minority groups, social initiatives and empowerment of employees.

“I have established that the following additional reviews are needed to promote the United States policy to restore common sense for the federal government and to unleash the potential of American citizens,” Trump said in the reversal.
