As the American battery storage market expands rapidly, insurance insurers sound the alarm on persistent developer missteps when it comes to site selection, space restrictions and assumptions on insurability.
Rosa van Reyk, a senior underwriter at Gcube Insurance Services, said ESS News That although developers generally understand what makes insurance more affordable and accessible, there are still some important blind spots.
“I think people appreciate on a large scale what it will make it easier for them to get insurance coverage and to ensure that it is affordably priced,” she said.
That said, batteries are still placed in tightly private areas, which can be a difficult pill for insurers to swallow.
