P3C Technology and Solutions, a spin-off from the IIT-BHU Varanasi from India, currently tests new Perovskiet-Zonne modules, where the assessments are carried out by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NIE) of the country.

The largest devices measure 30 cm2 with 15% efficiency. “We have worked on PSC technology for the past 5 years and have now reached this size,” said Sooraj Kumar, CEO and co-founder of P3C Technology and Solutions, said PV Magazine.

The following is a large number of external sustainability and performance tests. The reliability tests are carried out at the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE). “We are also busy sending our modules to NREL, US for validation,” he said, referring to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of the US Department of Energy.

Two PV models are developing, one with a glass substrate, called mysun glass and one with a flexible substrate, MySun Flex. The substrate thickness is 3.2 mm and 0.175 mm respectively. Target Solar PV applications include commercial and roof, automotive, space, defense, railway and agriculture.

With IIT BHU-University Chief Economist, Imteyaz Ahmad, as co-founder and adviser, P3C has developed a locally produced production process that integrates final DIE coating. “We have native to develop a state-of-the-art production line,” said Kumar, adding that the approach is not a barrier for capacity increase.

The scale on the production capacity of 60 MW is planned in 2025 and 2026, aimed at a module size of 90 cm x 180 cm. “This size will be rolled out in a lower capacity in the coming 12 months,” said Kumar.

At the same time, the Perovskiet-silicon team develops tandem cells and modules with one of the “largest silicon manufacturers in India,” said Kumar, who will soon be announced the names of partners. Other products in the pipeline include anti-sleeping and anti-reflecting coatings to improve the PV panel performance.

P3C, founded in 2019, has received share financing from Oberoi Thermit PVT LTD, an industrial machines and technology company based in Uttar Pradesh. The early organic inorganic perovskiet solar cell prototypes were 6% efficient. Today, the efficiency of its small semi-transparent research cells has reached 20%.
