The energy company says that it invests an amount of mid -three -digit million euros in the construction of the 600 MW Battery Energy Storage System (Bess).

German energy company RWE is building a 600 MW/1.2 GWH Bess on the site of the former Westphalia-Kolencentrale in Hamm, North Rhine-Westphalia.

The utility on Friday said that the factory would cost a figure from the “middle three digit million”.

RWE already had one 140 MW/151 MWH battery On the site in February.

The new, larger BESs contain three battery fields over six hectares that will host more than 25,000 lithium-ferro-phosphate batteries in 316 shipping containers. Site -Inspection is planned between 2026 and 2028.
