Specialist of energy storage Powin has launched Pod Max, a 6.26 MWh containerized lithium-ferrous phosphate (LFP) battery system that delivers 25% more energy density than its standard 5 MWH product. The liquid -cooled unit focuses on the applications on grid scale.
Energy storage Xupplier Powin has released Pod Max, an LFP battery on a grid-scale with an increased energy density.
The battery comprises 6.26 MWH capacity in a 20-foot-bond-based cooled container solution. The battery offers 25% higher energy density over its 5 MWh models and marks the most energy consumption product so far from the company.
“By supplying a higher energy density in the same proven form factor, Mas Max enables our customers to use more powerful systems with a lower total property costs,” said Powin Chief Technology Officer Himanshu Khurana.
Powin said that the design focuses on minimizing working time on location, so that less cabling and fewer connections per MWH are required of capacity. It claimed that this leads to faster installation and lower maintenance costs.
The Pod Max is governed by Powin’s Stackos platform, a software suite that combines an Energy Management System (EMS), Battery Management System (BMS) and Thermal Management System (TMS) in a single control layer. The external monitoring and processing software of the battery goes to the cell level and offers more visibility in the performance of the battery.
Powin’s 5 MWH POD battery and the Pod Max are included in an IP55-assessed 20-foot container. The products are UL- and IEC compatible and have fire suppression at module and container level.
The products are supplied with a 20-year performance guarantee and long-term service structures are available.
“Pod Max is the highlight of our ruthless focus on performance, implementation costs and scalability,” said Khurana.
Powin said that the POD battery includes an option in the US, compliant with the American inflation reduction ACT Domestic content standards for improved tax benefits, and an internationally manufactured option designed to comply with the rate regulations of section 301.
Powin is a Battery Integrator based in the US used with more than 17 GWh and monitors more than 6 million battery cells under construction. The company operates a 24/7 external operations center and more than 500 field service technicians and authorized service providers who support the performance of implemented batteries.
