India Awards 7.6 GW battery storage in H1 2025 – PV Magazine International

India has 5.4 GW of Colocated Solar Plus Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and 2.2 GW on Self -employed Bess to developers in the first half of 2025. This marks the highest Bess allocation of the nation to date, according to a new report from Rystad Energy.

A new report from Rystad Energy says that India has awarded 5.4 GW to Colocated Solar Plus Bess and 2.2 GW of independent Bess in the first half of 2025. This marks the highest Bess allocation of the nation so far.

Average quoted rates were around 4,000 ($ 48.02) per megawatt hour (MWH) for independent Bess and INR 3,208 ($ 38.50) per MWH for soloed projects for ZonNeBas-a’s downward trend on the prices that more developers could encourage intertangled installations.

Among the top developers, Jindal Group 990 MW assured colocated solar and bess capacity, while NTPC and renewed each00 MW in the same category.
