The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) released data for the first six months of 2025 that revealed that solar energy supplied almost 9% of the total American electrical generation, so that its streak was continued as the fastest growing source of electricity in the United States.

Eia’s last monthly “Electric electricity monthly“Report showed that a settlement tool on Nuts scale in June alone was landed by an almost a third (30.1%) compared to June 2024, while the estimated residential/small-scale solar PV increased by 10.5%. Combined all forms of Zonne-PV with 25.0% and supplied 10.2% of the country.

In addition, the solar scale on the utility scale expanded by 37.6%, while from residential systems that increased by 10.7% during the first six months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The combination of utility scale and small-scale solar sun increased by 29.7% and was 8.7% of the total of a year for January-Juni-electrical electrical electrical electricity

As a result, Solar Energy generated electricity easily-with nearly 45%-the output of the water water power stations (6.0%). Solar now produces more electricity than combined hydropower, biomass and geothermal together.

Wind energy also continues as leader of renewable energy in 2025, in which wind turbines produced 11.6% of American electricity in the first six months of 2025. Their output was 2.4% larger than the year before and almost double that produced by the country’s hydier power stations.

During the first six months of 2025, the electric generation supplied 20.3% of the American total due to wind and solar energy, an increase of 18.6% in the first six months of 2024. Furthermore, the combination of wind and solar -zon yielded 25% more electricity than coal during the first six months of this year and 15.6% more than the nuclear power of the country.

The mix of all renewable energy sources produced 9.2% more electricity in January-June than a year ago and provided (27.7%) of the total American electricity production compared to 26.1% a year earlier. Electric generation Due to the combination of all renewable energy sources, it grew three times faster than that of the total American electrical generation (9.2% versus 3.0%). The share of renewable energy sources in the electrical generation is now only the second after that of natural gas whose electric output actually fell by 3.7% during the first half of 2025.

“The latest data from EIA reflects the situation prior to the adoption of the Trump/Republican Megabill that can ignore the future growth of the renewable energy enforcement,” noted the executive director of the Sun Day Campaign Ken Bossong. “Anyway, EIA comments That American developers expect that half of new electric generation capacity will come from solar energy in 2025 and another 13% of the wind. “
