A solifornia solar project in California.

The legislative power of California recently approved AB 825A measure that will improve the reliability of the network and creating a western regional electricity market. It is now on the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

AB 825 will help California develop more renewable energy to sell to other states and market access for renewable energy in the west of the interior, reducing the dependence on fossil fuels.

AB 825 changes the Californian law to enable the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) to switch the board of its markets to an independent regional organization proposed by the Multistate West-Wide Governance Pathways Initiative. This will level the playing field on all energy entities with centralized planning and shipping of energy, giving Ratepayers access to affordable energy in the West in the long term. This is an important step in the direction of a full-service regional transmission organization (RTO), which includes centralized transmission planning, which will offer a uniform approach to grid expansion and upgrades about a larger Western footprint.

“Rapidly Expanding Demand for New Energy Resources from Data Computing Needs, Aging Transmission Infrastructure and Extreme Weather Conditions Are Raising the Cost of Electricity Across The West. The Stakes Are High, With Passage and Collaborate and Opportunity Cost-effective supply of newer clean energy resources, ”Said Vijay Satyal, Ph.D., Deputy Director of Markets and Transmission at WRA.

Recognizing the growing energy requirements in the region and the untouched opportunity to better use the existing resources, energy companies and civil servants in the West, develop daily Aheadmarkten-a way to plan every day to guarantee sufficient resources at the lowest available price.

While two day-to-do markets in the West are growing-the extensive day-light market (Edam) and Markets+-AB 825 offers a western regional wholesale market, an important tool for influencing regional low-carbon purposes and to strengthen the net reliability.
