Ørsted and Salt River Project (SRP) celebrated the official launch of the Eleven Mile Solar Center, a 300 MW solar energy project and 300 MW/1,200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Pinal County. The project is part of Ørsted’s $20 billion investment in expanding U.S. energy generation. Eleven Mile Solar Center is SRP’s largest joint solar and BESS project, providing power to businesses, homes and Meta’s data center in Mesa, Arizona. “Solar energy combined with battery energy storage will be critical to ensuring reliable power supply as demand for electricity grows,” said David Hardy, Group EVP and CEO Americas…
Walmart announced it will invest in 74 Solar Landscape community solar projects in Maryland and Illinois. The commercial rooftop projects are currently under construction and are expected to be energized in 2024 and 2025. They will generate almost 43 MWdirect current of solar capacity for the surrounding communities, enough power to serve the equivalent of more than 3,600 households. About half of the portfolio is intended to reduce energy costs for low- and middle-income households (LMI). In total, Solar Landscape estimates that the projects will save subscribers approximately $1 million annually on energy bills. “Our investment in this community solar…

A New Era of Living As our global population ages and environmental concerns continue to grow, a new trend is emerging at the intersection of senior living and sustainability – green senior communities. These living spaces are designed to provide comfortable, healthy environments for older adults while minimizing their ecological footprint. In this guide, we’ll explore how green living is reshaping senior communities and paving the way for a more sustainable future for all generations. The concept of green living in senior communities goes beyond simply adding a few recycling bins or energy-efficient light bulbs. It’s an approach that considers…
Researchers from China found that large solar power plants have a positive positive impact on the ecological environment of desert areas. Their tests were conducted at a 1 GW solar farm in China’s northeastern Qinghai province. October 10, 2024 Lior KahanaA research team led by scientists from China’s Xi’an University of Technology has assessed the ecological and environmental impacts of large-scale PV development in desert areas. As a case study, they evaluated the on-site (WPS) effect of the Qinghai Gonghe Photovoltaic Park, a massive 1 GW facility located in a typical arid desert in Talatan, northeastern Qinghai province of China. The…

The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) has reported that “several” solar panels have been linked to a second wave of electronic device explosions across the country, but local sources have so far identified only one damaged PV system, of which they said it was probably affected. by external factors. October 9, 2024 Emiliano Bellini BeirutImage: Sara Calado, UnsplashLebanon’s NNA has claimed that several PV systems used by the militant group Hezbollah exploded on September 18, a day after Israeli attacks on portable pagers caused simultaneous explosions across Lebanon, killing dozens of people and injuring thousands. The agency did not say whether…
A photovoltaic upgrade in Jiaxing, China, significantly increases power production The distributed photovoltaic “trade-in” project in the administrative center in Haining City, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, has significantly increased the power generation capacity without expanding space. The project, which was launched on September 9, is the first of its kind in Zhejiang, following the publication of the “Implementation Plan for Large-Scale Equipment Renewal in Major Energy Fields” by the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration on August 21. As installed photovoltaic capacity in China grows, the issue of recycling outdated photovoltaic panels becomes increasingly important. The “Plan”…
