Chinese vanadium redox flow battery specialist Hunan Yinfeng New Energy plans to invest CNY11.5 billion ($1.63 billion) in developing a major production facility in Inner Mongolia.

The project is expected to play an important role in promoting the adoption of vanadium redox flow batteries, one of the most promising large-scale energy storage technologies due to their long lifespan, exceptional safety and environmental performance.

Hunan Yinfeng signed a strategic agreement with the Baotou city government and Jiuyuan district late last month to develop a full-scale liquid power vanadium industrial park project, which will be completed in two phases.
