The BVEs noted a clear decrease in battery sales in 2024, with a total decrease of € 12.5 billion ($ 13.5 billion) by 23% at 2023.

The sale of home battery energy systems (BESS) decreased by 40%, from € 11.1 billion, in 2023 to € 6.7 billion with BVS Managing Director Urban Windel quotes a decrease in the installation of heat pumps and wall boxes.

Falling energy prices, uncertainty about regulations such as the Building Energy Act and a weakening construction sector are also factors, according to the trade body, whereby the sale of heat storage fell from € 7.3 billion to € 4 billion last year. The sale of electricity storage system fell from € 3.8 billion to € 2.8 billion, year after year.
