Olade’s Technical Note 10, entitled “Energy storage in Latin -America and the Caribbean – the current status, challenges and strategic recommendations” reports 2.5 GW installed capacity in the region.

Energy storage installations are powered by a wider penetration of renewable energy and related grid restrictions. Chile, Brazil and Mexico are one of the countries that are at the forefront of energy storage, according to the memorandum, in which Central -American and Caribbean countries install smaller projects.

Olade reported that lithium ion batteries are good for around 60% of the energy storage and are used in solar-plus storage places, as well as on-standing projects for scheduling reinforcement.
