The 13th Energy Storage International Summit & Exhibition (ESIE 2025), held in Beijing earlier this month, contained a flurry of product launches in the landscape of energy storage. Most newly revealed systems and components are currently only available in China, with international versions that are still under development.

Technological innovation at the event clearly pointed to a trend of increasing energy density – both at system level and, in particular at cell level, where the rise of 587 AH cells signaled a new industrial benchmark. Although many of these products are not yet in mass production, there was a noticeable lack of diversification of chemistry in the range of the latest generation.
