Poland’s National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has opened applications for the sixth edition of its Mój Prąd (My Electricity) discount scheme.

Net billing prosumers who incurred installation costs after January 1, 2021 are eligible. The maximum subsidy available for solar energy without storage is PLN 6,000, increasing to PLN 7,000 for solar micro-installations with storage.

All solar installations connected to the electricity grid after August 1 must be linked to electrical storage facilities and/or thermal storage facilities to qualify. The installations can vary in size from 2 kW to 20 kW.

A thermal energy storage subsidy of up to PLN 5,000 is available, increasing to PLN 16,000 ($4,132) for electrical energy storage systems. The capacity must be at least 2 kWh.

The budget for the latest edition of the scheme totals PLN 400 million, with funding coming from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment programme.

Applications will be accepted until December 20, or when funds run out. Additional details are available on the Polish government website website.

Poland added approximately 4.6 GW of solar energy by 2023, bringing the cumulative installed capacity above 17 GW. The country switched from net metering to net billing for its micro-installation market in mid-2022.
