Developer Renewable Connections has received a planning state for a 23.5 MW solar PV factory together with a 19mw battery energy storage system (BESS).

The Carr House Solar Farm en Bess will be located in East Heslerton, Yorkshire, which has been approved by the North Yorkshire Council. Renewable connections submitted an application at the beginning of 2024.

The site covers an area of approximately 88.8 hectares and delivers a net profit of biodiversity of 16% to habitate units, 55% in The Hague Units and 7% in watercourse units.

Michael Hughes, CEO of Renewable Connections, said that the North Yorkshire Council renewable energy “in the heart” has his approach to tackling the climate -needs. North Yorkshire Council explained a climate emergency in 2022 and in 2023 launched a strategy for climate change that identifies the generation and storage of low -carbon energy as a necessary alternative to fossil fuels.

In February, a 90 MW Bess in Somerset was agreed to renewable connections, so that the permission for renewable energy sources in the United Kingdom on the 1GW marking brought.

As treated in a recent article by Solar Media Market Research Analyst Josh Cornes, when UK Solar was at its peak between 2010 and 2015, the average time for a project to get approval was approximately 29 weeks.

Although the average capacity of projects was considerably lower, the majority in the 5-20 MWP and a scattering in the reach of 20-50 MWp, there was a huge amount of more, with more than 1,600 submissions in 3 years.

Cornes explains that developers have now seen 10 months for a decision as a success, with a target of one year for capacity projects of Local Planning Authority (LPA). The time needed to approve the factory for renewable connections comes around 15 months.
