All four of the latest Smart Panel models from Span are certified for performance and safety under UL 3141 certification, the first smart panels that the certification receives.

UL 3141 is the highest safety standard for Power Control Systems (PCS), a category of devices that manage electrical taxes to keep the power within defined limits. Underwriters Laboratories recently published The 3141 PCs standard In response to the growing number of energy generation, storage and conversion devices and the increasing complexity of instruments used to coordinate, limit and optimize their use. The 3141 standard builds on and contains earlier UL standards for energy management devices, and will be a requirement for PCS applications in the National Electrical Code 2026.

“A future future must also be a safe energy for families and companies,” said Arch Rao, CEO of Span. “Safety has always been a top priority for us, and the extensive time and resources we have spent on obtaining this certification were a valuable investment to guarantee the safety of our customers and to give them extra peace of mind. Span remains the industry stand for safety and reliability with our products, and removing barriers to everyone.”

The certification of Span SMART -panels up to UL 3141 represents independent verification that its PCS systems effectively protect consumer safety and device integrity and at the same time perform advanced energy and power control functions that enable increased home electrification using existing utility infrastructure. Span panel, with the company’s power-up software, helps consumers and electric utilities to avoid service upgrades that may otherwise be necessary to meet the growing demand from homes to electricity and can cost $ 10,000 or more. These double benefits help make the electric grid more flexible and reliable and also helps to start the electricity prices of the retail trade at a time when prices rise quickly in the United States.
